From Statistics Niue Office….
Last week from Friday 11th November – Friday 18th November 2005, a group of 3 consultants from the Statistics New Zealand office visited Statistics Niue office on a scoping mission. This visit was commissioned by NZ Aid with the support of the Government of Niue under the umbrella of the Strengthened Cooperation Programme (SCP), a joint initiative agreed to by the New Zealand Government and Niue Government in the MOA.
The underpinning objective of the exercise is to find out a number of things related to statistics in Niue in order for it to improve the delivery of its services in providing quality statistical information to users in a timely manner. To name a few, these are some of the things covered in the exercise:
- What Statistics
- How are statistics to be produced?
- Publication of statistics
- Procedural Arrangements within the Niue Government
- Implications for the Statistical Unit.
- Training, Mentoring and Technical Assistance
- Legislative requirements
- Merchandise exports and imports.
- Immigration
- Counts from the Population Register, and many others.
